Indra Persad Milowe

Indra Persad Milowe  is a visual artist living and working in Salem, Massachusetts. Her work brings to life many of her childhood memories of growing up in Trinidad and Tobago in the 1950’s and 1960’s. Indra is a Trinidad born, USA-based Visual & Public Artist. Her early talent came to the fore when her paintings were chosen for her high school’s yearbook for two consecutive years. It was only natural that after having worked as an Overseas Nurse for a number of years that she go back to art during her retirement.

She recently returned from Ubud, Bali, Indonesia where she was “Artist-in-Residence”. Indra has two main collections: “Festivals & Folklore of Trinidad, West Indies” and “My Journey to Morocco” She is also is a regular Contributing Artist to the Rotunda Gallery (in the Parliament Building, Port of Spain, Trinidad, West Indies). She most recently attended (SIFA 2023) the Singapore International Festival of Arts. Internationally her works can be found at the Mauser Eco House, Parrita, Costa Rica, where she painted a 6 x 6 foot mural on their entrance wall and she has public art projects in Salem, Massachusetts as well.

As a successful artiste she is accustomed to receiving grants from the Public Art Commission. Indra mentions that many of her ideas “come to me when I am lying in my bed so I sketch my thoughts before putting them onto my canvas.” She plans to continue to focus her artwork on childhood memories of growing up in a unique multicultural island.
