Kavir Mootoo

Kavir Mootoo is a self-taught visual artist who paints on canvas and clothing. Trained as a Landscape Architect in the UK (2000), he returned to a fine art practice in 2008 and has been doing this full-time since 2016. He is inspired by nature, freedom of expression, freedom, fashion, architecture, landscape architecture and the need for environmentally sustainable lifestyles.

He currently works in an abstract expressionistic style as he relishes in the freedom of listening to his thoughts and feelings and letting them influence what he produces. When he paints he “decides the rules” which he pronounces as “indescribable” as applies to the level of joy this provides. His work on Tee shirts is a means to also create a new-look clothing option which reduces the need to paint on paper and canvas. His wearable art is available on Organic Cotton, Bamboo or Hemp and Sweatshop-free T-shirts and Tank Tops. He also does “re-fresh clothing” art to reduce the need to purchase new clothes.
